“May I live gracefully with my limitations. May I accept aging as a part of my life, a part to be lived richly, fully, and with gratitude.” Clara
On her eightieth birthday, Clara climbs a mountain to a remote place she loves, and is struck by lightning. Just as her life slips away she is rescued by immortal beings from the faraway planet of Eliria. They carry her to their ship and heal her, not only of the effects of lightning, but also of all the ravages of aging.
When she returns to Earth, she discovers she is a beautiful young woman. She rejoices in her newfound strength, revives her career, and starts dancing again. But soon her old spirit begins to feel at odds with her new life, longing for the depth and quiet of her former days. She becomes increasingly uncomfortable in the electronic world of the 21st century, dreads to outlive her children, is troubled by the impact of her beauty, and wounded by a disastrous romance with a young tango dancer.
Faced with the prospect of living her life all over again in another era, Clara wonders if the Elirians would be able to return her to her old body—and what her choice would be if they could.

Words of Praise
“Original, deftly crafted, absorbingly entertaining from beginning to end, Heather Starsong’s Never Again is a compelling read and clearly establishes this author as an impressively talented storyteller who will leave her readers looking eagerly toward her next novel.” Midwest Book Review
“A delightful, thought-provoking, and mesmerizing tale. From its opening in the beauty of the mountains to its final page, this fresh and remarkable story engaged me with a new perspective on extra-terrestrial beings, cross generational relationships, the tenderness of aging, the lure of beauty, and the essence of love. I see life through a different lens now.”—Cedar Barstow, author of Right Use of Power: The Heart of Ethics
“Treat yourself to a vision of a new world. Never Again is one of those rare books that is both magical and wise. As well as delighting you, it will teach you unexpected lessons about youth and old age. In fact, it will stand many of your unquestioned ideas upside-down and cause you to look at aging in new ways.”—Sam Keen, co-author of Prodigal Father, Wayward Son.
“I love Never Again–the story, the characters, the descriptions, Heather’s craftsman-like use of the language. It is without question one of the best, most moving novels I’ve ever read.”—Reynold Ruslan Feldman, Ph.D., author of Terranautics 101: The Basics for Navigating an Uncertain Future
“I read the book in one session and reread it the following day. The full life experience — and beyond — is captured within these pages. Read it once and like myself, you may read it again to arrive at a new perspective on your view of the world, love, getting older… and beyond.” — P.S. Gifford, author, Curiously Twisted Tales
“Never Again is not your ordinary alien abduction novel. It is a touching story of self-discovery and second chances. Ms. Starsong crafts a tale of what it might really be like to have a second chance at life and love, and how it may not be what you might expect. It is science fiction that even non-science fiction fans will enjoy.” — Steve Bellinger, author, The Chronocar
“Another great read from Ms. Starsong!!! Her description of what happened to her on her long hikes, the meetings with the extra-terrestrials, and her struggles with self image pulled me right into her story. What DO you do after being given a most radical gift!? The story seems so very real that it feels like it must really have happened. I also admire how, not wasting a word, Ms. Starsong intertwines important experiences of self discovery along with those so exciting happenings. I can’t wait for her next book!” —Jean Lord
